Fleur East for Darkus Magazine
A colour-blocked portrait series built around one idea: put the colour on the set, not in post. Working to the commissioning agency's brief, I owned the photographic visual execution — set direction, lighting direction, the shoot itself and the final selects — supported by a production and lighting team working via Marcelle Adrianna Studio.

01
Art direction · Photography
One colour per look, carried through the whole frame.
Each set-up pairs a wardrobe colour with a ground that either matches it or fights it — pink on pink, blue fur on ochre, green suit on yellow. Nothing is stripped in afterwards: the backdrops were built and lit on the day so the talent, the styling and the set read as one surface. That decision is what lets the series hold together across eleven frames without repeating a pose.

02
Portrait series
Movement, held still.
The direction on the day was to keep her moving — hands to camera, crouched, mid-turn — and shoot into it rather than posing between beats. The sequence below is the run as it was shot, one look flowing into the next.

03
Detail
The hair slides carried the copy.

Typographic hair slides were styled into the looks so the story carried a line of copy without a graphic overlay. Shot close and in profile, they became the detail frames the press set needed.

Moving image
The shoot as its own content.
Behind the scenes · Darkus Magazine
The behind-the-scenes film was captured on the day rather than staged afterwards, so it doubles as a record of how the sets were built and lit.

The original brief came from the commissioning agency, and the wider production around the cover story was handled by the agency and ITV. My responsibility was the photography and its visual execution — set direction, lighting direction and the final image edit and selects — with Pamela Nolan producing that photographic side via Marcelle Adrianna Studio and Antonio supporting the lighting on set.
Credits independently verified by Creative Commission, which publishes three frames from this shoot.
